BET's 2012 Black Girls Rock









































"Making for the third running of the annual showcase, BET's 2012 Black Girls Rock! celebration was taped during a ceremony held in New York City on Saturday night (October 13).
With the festivities going down at the Paradise Theater, the red carpet arrivals area was packed with star power as famous ladies like Eva Longoria, La La Anthony, Meagan Good, Keyshia Cole and Star Power Award recipient Taraji P. Henson mingled amongst one another while waiting for hosts Tracee Ellis Ross and Regina King to get the proceedings underway.
Celebrating the achievements of remarkable women of color, this year's installment of Black Girls Rock! features performances by Rock Star Award winner Alicia Keys and Young, Gifted and Black Award celebrant Janelle Monae, as well as Brandy, Ciara, Missy Elliot and India.Arie.
Joining Taraji, Alicia and Janelle as a 2012 honoree is Living Legend Award recipient Dionne Warwick - with the distinction doted unto the singer/actress/US Ambassador of Health as a thank you for 71 years of making the world a better place to live.
With the two-hour spectacle set to premiere Sunday, November 4th on BET Networks, Black Girls Rock! founder Beverly Bond commented on the production, telling press, “Black Girls Rock! Inc. is extremely proud to partner with BET Networks, for a third year, to produce the 2012 Black Girls Rock! special. This show has become an essential platform where dynamic women are honored and exalted for bringing the best of our cultural contributions to the forefront. The Black Girls Rock! award show on BET celebrates the nexus of achievements of women of color and showcases Black female excellence, to inspire and empower the next generation of leaders” said Beverly Bond, founder of Black Girls Rock! Inc.
