"I thought it was incredibly ambitious to translate Kerouac cinematically, but I was also quite terrified of the role. The dialogue is word-for-word from the book, not a normal cadence— no grammar, no start and stop to sentences. It felt a little Shakespearean in the way I had to figure out how to make it accessible."
