"Taking a break from his CBS show "Vegas", Dennis Quaid garnered himself a little added exposure by covering the October 2012 issue of Los Angeles Confidential magazine.
Proving he's aging well, the 58-year-old actor looked handsome in a worn leather jacket and dark jeans for the Jack Guy shot spread while opening up about his rocky past and why he accepted his new role.
A few highlights from Mr. Quaid's interview are as follows. For more, be sure to pay a visit to Los Angeles Confidential!
The Article
On his early career in the '80s:
"That was a pretty wild time. I was doing a lot of blow back them... It was starting to affect my work, actually. It was lack of sleep and just not being able to be as present as you need to be. I saw myself dead within five years. It [all happened] in one night, and the next day I was in rehab... Once I got that figured out, then I spent the '90s just relearning life."
On accepting his "Vegas" role:
"It just seemed like a really good fit - it's cowboys versus gangsters basically. It was a huge decision. I've been looking for something to do in television for a couple of years now, because I feel what's going on in television is what was going on in the movies in the '70s. A lot of great writers have moved to television, and they're doing some really good stuff."
On aging in Hollywood:
"There's a lot of rejection in this business, even throughout what appears to be a successful career. I'm in a business where you get a job, and you work on it for however long, and they say, 'Hey, fantastic! Nice working with you!' And then you're out of another job. You're looking for another one, and, of course, over time they get somebody else to do [a certain] role because you're too old for that. So you have to change and ... go with the flow."
